Frequently Asked Questions
Justify your existence! What is Imagine?
● We wanted to create an alternative for people who don't have a gym membership or can't afford one. Imagine is meant to be a comfortable alternative space in which you can ask questions and relax.
Lots of people feel intimidated about attending a fitness setting inhabited only by those who fit some ideal stereotype. Such people worry about not fitting in or "not knowing what they're doing" when they exercise. We wanted to make a safe, family-like environment for our clients.
Imagine provides you with the education, support, tools, and environment you need in order to achieve on-going success.
The tri-state area is full of health clubs with fancy machines and TVs. Why should we come to Imagine?
● Machines are good. They have their place. But is that the way you use your muscles in day-to-day life? In real life, we use multiple muscles in varied combinations, all day long.
Imagine provides personal instruction, teaching you to incorporate changes into your daily routine. You take what you learn and use it when you play soccer with your children, ride your bike, clean the house, or even when you're sitting at your desk.
A machine is fine when you want to strengthen a particular set of muscles, but it might not help much when you want to bend down and tie your shoe.

What's unique about you?
● We hope to make our customer service – our relationship with our clients – our strongest single characteristic.
When people feel at ease enough to ask us about things they might normally find embarrassing, or brave enough to simply tell us when they're uncomfortable, we will have surpassed the customer-client relationships that most providers offer.
We want our clients to come to us. We enjoy them, and we hope they realize they're our welcome guests – not just a means to a paycheck.
What kind of people go to Imagine?
● Frankly, Imagine is NOT for everybody. Particular types of people are drawn to us.
"Nice" might be too trite a description, but of course we prefer pleasant human beings. Open-minded types who respect the rights and feelings of others. It's even better when such people are interested in learning and discovery and transition, because those are the things they experience at Imagine.
You won't just enter the studio and swipe a card. We take note of who you are, what you want (or don't want), and we will remember if you have an injury or a condition that requires special care.
That slogan, "Let your mind change your body." What's that supposed to mean, really?
● You can't just go through the motions and get results. Real change requires a conscious decision. The mind-body connection is real.
As you exercise, if you're thinking about what's for dinner or what to wear to the jazz club, you won't have the same results you get from focused effort. You can use the same weights for the same number of repetitions, but if you're just going through the motions, you'll be wasting your time. At Imagine, we get your mind involved first.
Suppose I work off some weight and meet some goals. How will I maintain the results?
● This is where the mind-body connection is most important. When you realize how much better you feel and look, you will want to continue to learn and progress. Imagine will keep you interested, not immerse you in boring routines. We are your support system and, if needed, your kick in the pants.
What else is on the horizon?
● The possibilities are endless. At Imagine, we are excited about trying new things, whether that’s with kids or adults, athletes or couch potatoes, indoors or outside. Whether you need focused training with the goal of competing in sports or whether you just want to run up stairs without feeling winded, we are developing offers to bring you exactly what you want.
What can Imagine do for me?
● We can change your view of what exercise is. We can change your opinion of exercise facilities. We can make it fun. (Yes. Really.)
What can you do for my child?
● Adults often struggle to become fit because it requires a lifestyle change. For children, it’s usually second nature to be active.
More than ever before, we have to help our children develop good habits while they are still young. The benefits aren’t just physical.
Please see our range of programs designed especially for children.
